Mission

"Supporting contemporary and experimental artists of all disciplines, and creating space for artists to impact the community"

Individual Artists of Oklahoma is committed to sustaining and encouraging emerging and established artists in all media who are intellectually and aesthetically provocative or experimental in subject matter or technique.

Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) seeks proposals from qualified artists for presentation at IAO gallery for the 2017-2018 calendar. Supporting artists of all disciplines, IAO seeks submissions in visual arts, performance, poetry, film & video, new media, installation, and interdisciplinary media. Preference will be given to artists who propose exhibitions that are thought-provoking, progressive, or experimental in nature. Emerging artists of all ages are encouraged to apply.

IAO selects artists for either display in the main gallery or project space. Artists may indicate which space they prefer, though this does not guarantee selected work will exhibit in the preferred space.

Exhibitions are selected by a panel of qualified individuals from Oklahoma’s artistic community. This Visual Arts Committee (VAC) will select and curate proposals into solo exhibitions, curated or themed group shows.

IAO requires selected artists to propose and support programming alongside their exhibition. This could include, but is not limited to, artist talks, workshops, performances, film screenings, or panel discussions.

Exhibitions run for one month, with opening receptions on the third Friday of the month. Artists and IAO will work together to install and implement exhibitions.

Artists must submit:
5-10 images that best represent the artists’ work
Resume (1-3 pages)
Artist Statement (100-200 words)
Show proposal (100-300 words)

TIMELINE:
